If youre looking for an area thats close to just about everything, then youll want to purchase your home in Waldorf. Hughesville
Hughes is another area in the Southern Maryland real estate market. For small town quaintness, Hughesville is as small town as you can get! Significant improvements in the towns traffic have been achieved over the past year, when a highway bypass opened in February of 2007. This single improvement alone has alleviated rush-hour traffic backups. Perfecting the bypass will take awhile, however, as aesthetic improvements are still ongoing. Hughesville is known as being a former tobacco market town. All of the tobacco warehouses have been converted into second-hand thrift stores and boutique gift and craft shops.
Hughesville has no standard grid-layout streets, but instead has some small outlying housing developments, and it does consist of businesses along the highway. As small as small towns like Hughesville go, its still the geographic center of the tri-county Southern Maryland region. Because of this, it houses institutions such as a humane society, a board of realtors, a homeless shelter, an economic development council, and the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative.
